Motivated to create treasured heirlooms for the future that empower women to feel fabulous Cathy says “I love celebrating the imperfections of semi-precious gemstones and enjoy sourcing and designing with less convention. I’m a fan of patterns and texture and I’m always striving to create a new experience for my customers by designing unique pieces they haven’t seen or tried before. ”

“Each and every collection I design comes from an authentic place. It’s either influenced by an experience I have had, a moment or memory in my life, or a feeling that I might have felt. Before Cathy Pope Jewellery I wore mostly heirloom pieces that I’d inherited as I’ve never enjoyed wearing mass produced jewellery. I was given some chunky crystal beads and decided to pop one on a simple big chain and quickly realised I’d created the perfect necklace for myself. Soon my friends were ordering them and shortly after a shop assistant asked to stock them, the media loved them and that’s how it all began.”

With successful design careers working in costume design for TV, film and theatre to designing and making bespoke wedding dresses, Cathy Pope has established a reputation in the New Zealand fashion scene for producing distinctive, timeless gemstone jewellery with stand-out style. When she’s not designing and creating her sought-after gemstone jewellery, Cathy is travelling to India to work with the artisans and gemstone cutters who help bring her designs to life.
